Microbial Resources
At the heart of bioresource utilisation study is the microbial resources. Culture collections or Biological Resource Centres (BRCs) serve as essential facilities to collect and preserve these biological assets and make them available to scientists to investigate for their applications.
High-Throughput Enzyme Screening System
As catalysts to chemical reactions, enzymes are widely used to facilitate industrial processes and the production of products in a variety of industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemical production, biofuels, food & beverage, and consumer products. Enzyme screening is therefore an important step to facilitate the discovery of novel biocatalysts for biotech industry.
Microbial Community Profiling and Microbiome Function Analysis
Microbiome is the collection of microorganisms and conditions in a particular environment. It can be linked to phenomenon such as human health and environmental sustainability. Therefore, understanding of microbiome can lead to discovery of microbial applications to the benefit of humans and the future of the planet.
Since the value of digital biology research is no longer at national, nor even regional levels, promoting AmiBase as a Collaborative Microbial Data Infrastructure to the challenge of data proliferation in ASEAN, ASIAN, and global research communities would be beneficial for attraction of collaboration from regional and international bodies such as the World Data Centre for Microorganisms (WDCM), World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC) and JJapan-ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Platform (ASTIP) |
